Mrs. Hughes died June 21, 2011. She was born January 26, 1925 to the late Thomas Vann and Bessie Williamson Vann.
She was a Wonder Bread employee for 19 years, Inez was also a Union Representative and Executive Board Member of the Bakery and Confectionaries Worker International Union Local Number 1AFL-CIO for 10 years. A member of the Vivian Society, Inez also was employed as a bookkeeper at the Elks Lodge in Hobart, Ind. from 1974-75. At the age of 50, she then embarked on an entirely new career, real estate. Inez obtained her realtors license in 1978. She started her professional realty career at Mirich Realtors in Merrillville, Ind. and later retired from McColly realtors in Hobart, Ind. after a 17-year career. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ernest Hughes; one sister, Elaine Ross; and three brothers, Aubrey, Raymond, and Bill Vann.
Survivors include her son, James Hughes (and wife Nancy) of Ind.; one daughter, Gayle Van Buren (and husband Jeffrey) of Cadiz; special niece, Jaqueline Shirley (and husband Stan); four grandchildren, Melissa Leon (and husband Perry), Amber Mullikin (and husband John), Jody Chatelain (and husband Michael) and Scott Van Buren; nine great grandchildren James Leon (and wife Regiss), Kristen Swanson (and husband Scott), Jade Breedlove (and husband Joshua), Kara Deem, Leah Brumble (and husband Hunter), Christopher Deem; Christopher, Patrick and Nicholas Chatelain; three great- great-grandchildren, Layla Leon, McCoy Swanson and Amelia Breedlove; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
