Mayes wins four

Trigg County eighth grader Scottie Mayes won four events at the Kentucky State Middle School Track Meet May 22 in Lexington, single-handedly leading the Midcats to a fifth place finish.

Mayes took first place in the 100-meter dash (11.71), 200-meter dash (23.83), 400-meter run (54.28), and the 110-meter hurdles (14.37), setting new state records in two of the events, TCMS Track Coach Shannon Burcham said.

A.J. Bridges was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 33-feet, 6-inches and ninth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:30.

Aaron Acree was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 47.31 seconds and 14th in the high jump at four-feet, 10-inches.

Drew Pool was 28th in the 800-meter run in 2:37.

With Mayes scoring 40 points from his four first place finishes, Trigg County finished fifth with 50 points. Marshall County Middle won with 75 points, while Burns Middle School was second with 66 points.
