Sharda Whitlock picked up a third place finish in the discus throw to account for all of Trigg County’s scoring at the Class A State Track Meet Friday in Lexington.

Whitlock scored a distance of 93-feet, 8-inches, which was 11 feet behind the winner, Michelle Simon of Bishop Brossart.

“I’m proud of Sharda. She overcame a lot during the spring and kept her focus, and it paid off with a good finish,” Lady Wildcat Track Coach James Shelton said.

The six points left Trigg County tied for 21st place in the meet, won by St. Henry with 101 points.

Whitlock was one of two Trigg County qualifiers for the state meet.

Freshman Sarah Woodall cleared 6-feet, 6-inches and finished ninth, just missing scoring points for the Lady Wildcats.
