Funeral services for Lena “Jack” Oliver Proffitt, 85, of Cadiz, were conducted on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at 10 a.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Terry Mitcheson, assisted by Rev. Lindsey Boren, officiated at the services. Burial followed in New Jerusalem Cemetery in Trigg County.

Mrs. Proffitt died on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 5:50 a.m., at her residence of natural causes.

Mrs. Proffitt was born on September 26, 1918, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late Fount and Lucy McCormick Oliver.

Mrs. Proffitt was a homemaker and a member of New Light Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Proffitt; three grandchildren, Larry Smith, Gary Smith, and Charles Brian Proffitt; two sisters, Lois Pennington and Iva Mae Oliver; one brother, Maxie Oliver; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include six sons and daughters-in-law, Linzie Haywood and Carolyn Proffitt, Paul and Kathy Proffitt, Jerry and Wanda Proffitt, and Terry Proffitt, all of Cadiz, and Harry and Hazel Proffitt of St. Louis, Mo., and Darrell and Lee Proffitt of Eddyville; two daughters, Rosemary Lamkin of Tampa, Fla., and Lois Hargrove of Cadiz; one sister, Virginia Oliver of Cadiz; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Christine Proffitt.

Music was provided by Jackie and Janet Creekmur, Vocalists.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Proffitt, D.J. Proffitt, Eddie Proffitt, Paul Milam, Timmy Proffitt, and Terry Bigelow.
