Funeral services for Pauline Emma Deese Mitchell, 78, of Cadiz, were conducted on Friday, July 30, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Norman Ellis, assisted by Rev. John Mitchell, officiated at the services. Burial followed in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.

Mrs. Mitchell died on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at 7:30 p.m., at her son’s residence in Whitesville, Ky., of natural causes.

Mrs. Mitchell was born on June 10, 1926, in Monroe, N.C. She was the daughter of the late John S. and Emma Treadaway Deese.

Mrs. Mitchell was a private sitter, and was a member of Canton Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Mitchell; and four brothers, Bill Deese, Joe Deese, Neal Deese, and Paul Deese.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Della Mitchell of Whitesville, Rev. John and Pam Mitchell, and Terry Mitchell all of Cadiz; a brother, Bob Deese of Concord, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Ashley Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, and Carol Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

Music was provided by Suellen Hendricks, pianist, Margaret Curtis, pianist, and Yevonna Howard, vocalist.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ohio County, Ky, or American Cancer Society.

Serving as pallbearers were Jason Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, Danny Thomas, Leon Bland, Carl Jones, Jr., Wendell Wallace, and Billy Thomas.
