First-year head coach Amy Breckel’s roster contains one senior, one freshman, and five eighth graders mixed among seven sophomores and juniors.
However, three starters return from last year’s 7-18 team that lost in the first round of the Fifth District Tournament.
"We’re young, but we should be ready," said Breckel, who is the first female head coach of the Lady Wildcats since Brenda Thomasson in 1974-75.
Senior guard Felicia Crenshaw is the team’s leading returning scorer at 7.3 points per game, followed by Laquisha Boyd (6.1) and Molly Walters (5.0).
Breckel is hoping some of her younger players can provide some much needed depth throughout the season.
Trigg County has struggled in their two preseason scrimmage losses to Ballard Memorial and McLean County, with both teams using a press defense to their advantage.
"We expect teams to press us like they have in the past, so we have to preapre for that," Breckel said.
Trigg County has never lost to Christian Fellowship in nine career meetings, taking last year’s lone meeting 67-59 at Wildcat Gym. Christian Fellowship is slated to return four starters from last year’s 8-18 squad.
Tuesday’s tipoff will be at 6 p.m. since there will be no junior varsity contest.
