Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated at the services. Burial followed in Stewart Cemetery in Trigg County.
Mr. Choate died on Thursday, January 27, 2005, at 3:20 a.m., at Hilltop Nursing Home in Kuttawa of natural causes.
Mr. Choate was born on April 6, 1932, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Byron and Dellie Mae Cunningham Choate, Sr.
Mr. Choate was a retired painter; and was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry L. Choate; four brothers, Billy Ray Choate, Byron Choate, Jr., Clarence Choate, and G.C. Choate; and three sisters, Louise Hinson, Dorothy Hinson, and Margie Hancock.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara Choate; three sons and daughter-in-law, Clarence Ray and Hiler Choate, and Hal Choate, all of Cadiz, and James Tracey Choate of Okinawa, Japan; daughter-in-law, Vikky Choate of Cadiz; two sisters, Bonnie Griffey of Hopkinsville, and Lucy Mitchuson of Gary, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Brian Choate, Ben Choate, Lyndsey Choate, and Nick Choate.
Music was provided by Dianne Oakley, pianist.
Serving as pallbearers were Ray Burnam, II, Clarence Ray Choate, Hal Choate, James Tracey Choate, Jeff Choate, and Trent Ricks.
