Lake Barkley Water Commission is going to ask for help in stopping water loss from Rural Water. At the meeting they set a six-month goal to try to get the water loss down.

Rural Water is a service that will help Lake Barkley Water if they receive permission from the Commission. The Commission has agreed to have Rural Water out to help decipher what to do about the recent loss of water.

The commission is hoping that Rural Water will be able to devise a system that will use figures and percentages to keep the water system in check. Last month, it was reported that Lake Barkley water had a 53 percent water loss. Currently the water loss is only 7.8 percent.

County Judge Berlin Moore spoke to members of the Commission about the water loss. He said that the water loss problem needed to dealt with as a service to all residents in the Lake Barkley area.

The commissioners also said that they will be talking about water loss with the fire stations. It is the responsibility of a fire department to report an estimated amount of water used from a hydrant. If not reported this water goes into the water loss category, even though it has had a purpose. By reporting the water used to help put out fires, the water loss percentage will decrease.
