The junior guard nailed four 3-pointers in the second half to help the Lady Wildcats beat Crittenden County 55-52 in the quarterfinal contest.
Crittenden County (11-16) led 31-23 at halftime and 43-33 heading into the fourth quarter before Walters outscored the Lady Rockets by herself in the final frame 10-9.
Trigg County won despite hitting just 11-of-27 (40-percent) from the free throw line. However, the Lady Wildcats were consistent in their shooting, hitting 40-percent from the field (20-of-50), the 3-point line (4-of-10), and the charity stripe.
Felicia Crenshaw added 16 points and six assists as the Lady Wildcats won their eighth game of the season, eclipsing last year’s win total. Davida Braxton added six points and seven rebounds.
Jessie Mathieu scored 16 points to lead Crittenden County, who shot 34-percent from the field and hit just 5-of-21 shots from behind the 3-point arc.
The win was Trigg County’s fifth in six games in the 4-5 seeded game, while the first round tournament loss was the third straight for Crittenden County, who has not won a district title since 1984.
Trigg County now owns a 7-1 record vs. Crittenden County in the district tournament, including six wins in a row.
