Members of the Rotary Club and Genesis Express will prepare the cuts of meat this Saturday at the Genesis Express Building, 96 Jefferson St., at $5 per pound. The two groups ask that all orders be placed in advance by calling 522-7376 by Thursday, March 31.
Rotarians will be on hand for deliveries and orders can be picked up after 9 a.m. Saturday. All proceeds go to the Rotary Club.
Genesis Express donated $1,500 to Rotary from funds raised by last year’s fund raiser.
"Genesis Express is one project that we donate to every year with proceeds from our annual auction," said Cadiz Rotary president Dan Dickerson.
According to Dickerson, the Rotary funded a computer lab with necessary workstations for the 2003 Genesis Express after school tutoring program. Last year, Rotary was able to fund Internet service for a year for the tutoring program.
"This is a very awesome community relationship where everyone involved wins," he said.
The club’s weeklong auction, which is scheduled to begin April 4, has raised scholarship funds for Trigg County students since its inception in 1967, and funds a variety of activities that are beneficial to the Trigg County Youth and senior citizens.
This year’s auction celebrates the 100th birthday of Rotary International and the 38th year of the Cadiz/Trigg County Rotary Radio Auction. Jamus Redd has tagged his efforts as chairman of this year’s auction as "100 years of Rotary- 100 ways of helping the youth and seniors of Trigg County!!!"
The public is invited to attend the nightly auction at the Lakeland Jamboree building at 61 Jefferson St. from 6 to 10 p.m.
The auction also is broadcast live each night on radio station WKDZ.
The auction’s 6 a.m. kickoff breakfast April 4 at Lake Barkley State Resort Lodge Convention Center. Tickets can be obtained at the door or from any club member.
