On June 24, 2003, the late Chantell Humphries, then 34, of Cadiz was shot to death in a field not more than 150 yards from her mother’s home and her body left in a field.
Now, three years later, no one has been arrested in connection with the murder and few leads have come up that KSP Detective Michelle Kent can follow up on.
“This is a daily case for her,” Meadows said.
He also said that a few leads have come up but indicated that few, if any, are solid enough to follow up on.
Initially when the incident was first being investigated, authorities took Claude Russell, of Cadiz, into custody in connection with the crime. However, as the investigation continued, Russell was found to have not been in connection with the event. Time cards and other materials proved his innocence.
