Broadbent Pepper Bacon, produced by Broadbent's B&B Foods of Cadiz, was chosen as one of six finalists in the Outstanding Meat, Pate or Seafood category in the first round of competition earlier this month at the NASFT offices in New York City. The final round of judging will take place at the Summer Fancy Food Show July 10 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. Winners will be announced at the Meet the Tastemakers Reception on July 11.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture provides partial sponsorships for Broadbent and other Kentucky food companies to participate in "fancy food" shows throughout the country.
"We really appreciate the Department's help," said Ronny Drennan, owner of Broadbent B&B Foods. "These shows expose our products to gourmet food companies all over the United States and in many foreign countries. We are a small company with limited resources. We wouldn't be able to do this without their sponsorship."
