Trigg County Judge-Executive Berlin Moore said adoption of the NIMS standards would help the county collect any money for federal emergency relief.
Public officials will be trained on the NIMS standards so they may coordinate with surrounding counties in the event of a major, widespread emergency.
Members of Fiscal Court also unanimously approved participating in another JLUS survey of Trigg County to coordinate the county’s growth with the land-use needs of Ft. Campbell.
“It’s in our best interest,” Moore said.
He explained that, as a quick-response base, Ft. Campbell could close if hotels were to impede its air traffic.
The JLU survey, which was last completed in 1995, will see 75 percent of its cost covered by the Department of Defense. Trigg County will be required to cover the remaining $1,800.
