The Lady Wildcat soccer program heads into the fall season with some momentum following their performance at the Murray State team camp July 10-14.

Head coach Dana Bush said 22 players attended the camp, which focused on team and individual skills.

Trigg County won six of their eight games, including the championship game of their pool.

Bush said Lady Wildcats Amanda Simmons and Laykn Brooks were named to the camp all-star team by MSU head coach Mike Minelli, who selected the pair out of 250 players at the camp.

Darlene Young also won the camp’s Goalie Award for the second straight season.

Bush was appreciative of the community’s support during a series of fund rasiers that helped cover the $280 per player cost.

“We’d like to thank everyone that supported the team during the fund raisers,” Bush said.

Trigg County returned to varsity action last year with an 0-13 record, but should improve on that record in 2005 with the addition of several freshmen and sophomores to provide depth.

Trigg County opens the season Aug. 18 at Lyon County.
