Funeral services for Judith Ann DeKemper York, 64, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., were conducted on Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at 1 p.m., at Schneider Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Ind.

Rev. Troy DeKemper officiated at the services. Burial followed in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Mrs. York died on Saturday, September 10, 2005, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Mrs. York was born on July 18, 1941, in Mt. Vernon, Ind. She was the daughter of Betty Wood DeKemper, and the late Jack R. DeKemper.

Mrs. York was retired from Southwestern Indiana Mental Health Center in 1998, and had worked at J.R. Short Milling and Continental Grain prior; was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon; was a Girl Scout leader for many years; was a member of the New Charter Red Hats at Cadiz (Bridge Club); was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School; and loved spending time with family in Trigg County and boating on Barkley Lake.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband of 46 years, Arvill L. York of Mt. Vernon; two sons and daughters-in-law, and Jack and Karen York, and David and Amanda York, all of Mt. Vernon; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracie and Doug Little of Mt. Vernon, and Lee Ann and Jonathan Meredith of Reed, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Tara Brown, Max Little, Kabreea York, Jacob York, Blake York, Kacie York, John Meredith, and Andy Meredith; a special friend and cousin, Susie Bourne of Cadiz; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Dennis Rowe of Newburgh, Ind.; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Mt. Vernon Chapter of the Relay For Life.
