The district also plans to spend nearly $13 million, leaving a balance of approximately $2.7 million from what Superintendent Tim McGinnis calls a “conservative” budget. The end-of-year balance for the district last year was about $1.6 million.
Over $1 million was carried over from last year, which ended reporting a shortfall of some $300,000. However, McGinnis wasn’t concerned about the shortfall due to the purchase of a bus garage, which he said was a large cause for the shortfall.
McGinnis and District Finance Officer Linda Tribble are the main officials behind the school’s budget. McGinnis said that, despite the added revenue expected at the end of this year, they plan to be wise stewards with the district’s money.
