It was standing room only last week as 29 Trigg County High School students competed for the title of Miss Trigg County in the school’s gym. After almost three hours, judges finally announced that Alana Baker was their choice for Miss Trigg County 2005. Chosen as first runner-up was Emaly Birdsong, second runner-up – and Miss Congeniality - was Lanika Mayes and Millary Pate was selected first runner-up.

All of the girls had their first public appearance Sunday afternoon during the closing parade of the 2005 Trigg County Country Ham Festival.

Each of the girls appeared before the judges in casual wear and then formal wear before the group began to be narrowed down to the top ten and then the final five. As each section of the pageant unfolded each of the contestants were asked to tell of their career interests, and then answer specific questions for the judges.

Baker is the daughter of Stan and Mary Beth Baker and is 17-years-old. She was sponsored by Crop Production Services of Cadiz.
