Straining their voices over the brass-wind section, PTA announced that they were becoming a Parent Teachers Organization and that new fundraising money would go toward classroom teachers’ wish lists of class supplies.
“We don’t have a dollar limit,” co-president Jackie Futrell said, though she did say wishes for plasma-screen televisions would go ungranted.
“But VCRs are doable,” she said.
Volunteers were also solicited for PTA’s upcoming Chili Supper, being held Oct. 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Middle School cafeteria. The supper coincides with the school’s Fall Festival.
For $3, patrons will get a bowl of chili, a pimento-cheese sandwich, a cookie and lemonade. Preschoolers are free.
