“Last week we had a poll on our website that someone went to great lengths to skew the results,” Mitchell said. Late Monday afternoon there were a total of nearly 370 votes and, as much as I would like to say the site attracts that many viewers, there’s just no way.”
Mitchell said the site generates about 9,000 hits daily. During the past week, that number had spiked significantly on Friday and Saturday.
“The poll, asking citizens where they would like to see a new judicial center constructed, was never meant to be something that either side in the matter could rely on as gospel,” Mitchell said.
“It’s a shame that someone went to all that trouble over nothing,” he said.
The site, cadizrecord.com, is updated each week and from time to time contains poll questions on various stories that might appear in the newspaper that week.
“Apparently someone was either extremely concerned about the possible results or just didn’t have anything better to do,” he said.
