The Cadiz Civitan Club sponsored the annual Christmas party for Special Children on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at the Trigg School Cafeteria.

Buster’s treats and fruit baskets were given each student, and after they enjoyed the treats from Buster’s, Joe Boley entertained. He used his skills as a ventriloquist to bring to “Life” Jose the Crow, and Bennie the Brat. He also did magic tricks to amaze the youngsters.

Next old Santa Claus arrived, talking with each boy and girl, and bringing the gift each child had requested. The children, their families, their teacher, and Civitan members had a wonderful time.

The Civitans wish to thank the teachers, Santa’s helpers, Wallace Blakeley, Richard Pauze, William Lawrence, James Guess, Ronnie and Connie Cook, and unnamed others.

After the fun at school, Cadiz Civitans, wives, and guests held the regular club meeting and Christmas Dinner at The Cadiz Restaurant.

President William Lawrence called the meeting to order. Richard Pauze led the Pledge to the U.S.A. Flag, and James Guess said the blessing. A delicious buffet, special country ham, cake, and boiled custard were enjoyed.

Willie Wilson introduced guests, recognized charter member James Guess, who previously was awarded a plaque for fifty years of perfect attendance, and welcomed magician/ventriloquist Joe Boley. Boley, the son of the late Billy Boley who first began performing here in the fifties, continues the tradition of entertaining and making ventriloquist’s dummies. Joe related that his website and on-line merchandising had expanded business worldwide. In the past month he shipped special-made ventriloquist characters to four foreign countries. After Boley’s show, the fun continued with Jane Pauze and the Chinese Grab Bag. After several exchanges each one attending had a nice present. She also provided Christmas Angels for table decorations.

This 50th year of Civitan in Cadiz is in the final month, and Civitan members wish to thank all for their support and cooperation.

Those attending the dinner and entertainment at The Cadiz Restaurant include Joe Boley, Connie Cook, Ronnie Cook, Richard Pauze, Jane Pauze, James Guess, Naomi Guess, William Lawrence, Carolyn Lawrence, Sandra Myers, David Kyler, Jonell Kyler, Wilburn Wilson, and Jo Ann Wilson.

Gold Dollar winners were Wallace and Deloris Blakeley. The party closed with everyone singing “Silent Night.”

Cadiz Civitan Club meets at 7 p.m., each first and third Tuesday at The Cadiz Restaurant. The next meeting will be December 20, and will also be Ladies Night.
