Revs. Paul Cannon, Jesse Darnell, and Jason Osgood officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.
Mr. Darnell died on Sunday, December 25, 2005, at 9:40 p.m., at Norton Hospital in Louisville of natural causes.
Mr. Darnell was born on August 12, 1918, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Ruben Perkins Darnell and Ollie Mae Dixon Compton.
Mr. Darnell was a retired carpenter; a member of Canton Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon; was a member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121, Past Master; Chicago District Council of Carpenters; Ophelia Chapter 55 Order of Eastern Star; Honorary member of Hazel Chapter 390 Order of Eastern Star; and Trigg County Senior Citizens Council.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter-in-law, Julie Osgood.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Eleanor Moore Darnell of Cadiz; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Vicki Darnell of Goodyear, Ariz., and John and Sherry Darnell of South Chicago Heights, Ill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Jim Page of Clarksville, Tenn., and Marcha and John Osgood of Steger, Ill.; a half-sister, Marie Sumner of Cadiz; seven grandchildren, Larry Darnell, Jr., Ronnie Darnell, Jesse Darnell, Jason Osgood, Todd Osgood, Michael Darnell, and Matthew Darnell; and 10 great-grandchildren, Skye Darnell, Summer Darnell, Kayla Darnell, Alyssa Darnell, Danielle Darnell, Noah Darnell, Peyton Osgood, Sydnee Osgood, Chase Osgood, and Isabella Osgood.
Serving as pallbearers were Larry Darnell, Jr., Ronnie Darnell, Jesse Darnell, Jason Osgood, Todd Osgood, Michael Darnell, and Matthew Darnell.
