Funeral services for Howard Martin Stewart, 75, of Ozark, Ala., formerly of Trigg County, were conducted on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at Post Oak Baptist Church in Ozark.

Revs. Don Moore and William Cannon officiated at the services. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark was in charge of all the arrangements.

Mr. Stewart died on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at his home under the care of Community Hospice and his family.

Mr. Stewart was born on June 8, 1930, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Floyd Vurion and Ora Lee Overbey Stewart.

Mr. Stewart was retired from Dynacorp as an aircraft mechanic; was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean conflict, where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and numerous other honors; and was a member of Post Oak Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, his brother, Floyd Albert Stewart, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Stewart; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Jackie Thomas, Kathy and Lonnie Bishop, Beverly and Marty Franks, Darlene and Steve Helms, Daphne and Tommy Willis, Melita and Brett Smith, all of Ozark, and Carmen and William Kamats of St. Marys, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Stewart of Union, Ky., and Michael and Janet Stewart of Ozark; two sisters, Rozelle Burgess of Cerulean, and Vera Ashby of Evansville, Ind.; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
