Howard Sulver, Jr., 63, was driving his 1998 Buick eastbound on 68 at approximately 8:21 p.m. when he lost control amid ice and slush about a quarter-mile west of the Trace. Sulver’s vehicle — in which his wife Janice, 63, was the only passenger — rotated to its left and traveled off the left side of the highway, overturning in the process.
According to Kentucky State Police, the Buick came to a rest on its roof.
Mr. Sulver was taken by Trigg County EMS to Trigg County Hospital, where he was treated and released for minor injuries. Mrs. Sulver was pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner John Mark Vinson.
Both were wearing their safety belts, according to an accident report.
Kentucky State Police were assisted on the scene by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Trigg County Rescue, the U.S. Department of Forestry and Trigg County EMS.
