Funeral services were held on Monday, February 13, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger Funeral Home in Circleville, Ohio. Rev. Donald Frank officiated.
Interment services were held at 1 p.m., at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Columbus, Ohio, with military honors.
Mr. Wright died on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz.
Mr. Wright was born on February 12, 1921, in Perry Township, Pickaway County, Ohio. He was the son of the late Charles Homer and Lenora Britton Wright.
Mr. Wright graduated from Perry Township High School, Atlanta, Ohio, in 1939. He served in the U.S. Air Force, 19th Air Depo Group during WW II, in North Africa and France, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked for the York Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Company over 30 years. He was a 50-year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 189. He, his late wife, and one of his Sheltie canine companions traveled through all fifty U.S. states and several foreign countries. He was a member of the Ponderosa Baptist Church in the Rockcastle Area of Cadiz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Donna Mae McCune Wright, in August 2001; and a sister, Martha Ellen Poling.
Survivors include his canine companion, Lady; nephew and his wife, Drexel and Sheila Poling of Circleville, Ohio; and niece and her husband, Lorna and Donald Frank also of Circleville.
