Rev. Mark Faughn officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Rowland Cemetery.
Mr. Phelps died on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at 3:10 p.m., at the Princeton Healthcare Manor in Princeton following a long illness.
Mr. Phelps was born on August 16, 1922, in Caldwell County. He was the son of the late Charles Monroe and Maude Rowland Phelps.
Mr. Phelps was a retired, self-employed truck driver; and was a member of Flat Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church; was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Woodmen Of the World Lodge #92.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Phelps; a brother, Henry Phelps; and three sisters, Florene Ogg, Juanita Rowland, and Floella Riley.
Survivors include a son, Danny Phelps of Eddyville; four daughters and sons-in-law, LaDonna Manire of Princeton, Cheryl and Mike Combs of Franklin, Becky and Bruce Hillyard of Fredonia, and Bobbi and Jim Towery of Odgen, Utah; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Byrd of Dawson Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
