Funeral services for Jasper Thomas, 88, of Cadiz, were conducted on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Revs. O.D. Boyd and Lester Watson officiated at the services. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Trigg County.

Mr. Thomas died on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at 7:40 a.m., at his residence following a battle with cancer.

Mr. Thomas was born on October 8, 1917, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Alfred Claude and Mamie Jane Stallons Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was a retired co-owner of East Cadiz Garage and the Founder of the Kentucky Gospel Singers; and was a member of East Cadiz Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Adalene Wallace Thomas; three brothers, Harman L. Thomas, Herschel Thomas, and Zealous Thomas; and four sisters, Katherine Hendricks, Nora Gresham, Dellis Stephens, and S.E. Thomas.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Minister Garry W. and Junia Thomas of Cadiz; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy J. and Phillip Houchens of Hopkinsville; Caregiver, Linda Williams of Cadiz; four grandchildren, Marc Thomas, Jamey Thomas, Bryan Moore, and Wil Houchens; four great-grandchildren, Autum Thomas, Tanner Thomas, Tayler Thomas, Logan Moore; and brother-in-law, James Hendricks.

The Kentucky Gospel Singers honored Mr. Jasper by providing the music for the service.

Serving as pallbearers were James Hendricks, Josh Howard Thomas, Danny Boyd, Hershel Shelton, Dale Taylor, and Dale Lisembee.
