Funeral services for William Emmett “Bill” Rutherford, 74, of Paris, Tenn., formerly of Cadiz, were conducted on Friday, February 24, 2006, at 10 a.m., at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris was in charge of all the arrangements.

Father Edward Fisher officiated at the services. Burial followed in Murray Memorial Gardens in Murray.

Mr. Rutherford died on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

Mr. Rutherford was born on July 28, 1931, in Pound, Va. He was the son of the late Emmett Newton and Thirsa Mullins Rutherford.

Mr. Rutherford was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he served as usher, lector, altar server, Eucharistic Minister and choir member; was a member of Knights of Columbus-Gorman Brown Council #7086 and Mother Teresa Assembly #2673; member of Henry County Right to Life; Band Director at Trigg County High School, 1952-1975; Band Director and Principal in the Cumberland County School System in Burkesville, Ky., 1980-1987; Band Director at Grove Middle School, 1988-1991; and was active in Kentucky and National Educators and Music Educators Associations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Blaine Rutherford and James Rutherford.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kim Ann McClure Rutherford of Paris; three daughters, Kathleen (Mal) Malinousky of Frisco, Texas, Portia Vince Ponwith of Gilbert, Ariz., and Nancy Lee Rutherford of Maumee, Ohio; six grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Malinousky, Clay Malinousky, Jordan Malinousky, Christian Ponwith, Carter Ponwith, and Madison Piotrowski; in-laws, Max and Ruth Ann McClure of Cadiz; sisters-in-law and husbands, Debbie and Mark Belva of Murray, and Terri and Kevin Traughber of Paducah; nephew, Brian Belva of Murray; and two nieces, Aubrey Traughber and Erin Traughber, both of Paducah.

The Knights of Columbus served as pallbearers.
