The Janice Mason Art Museum brings a new art form to Cadiz beginning March 24 with the opening of "Gazes," time-based, digital animation and video by Joon Sung. Korean-born, but currently based in America, Joon Sung is a new media artist with traditional art background and Assistant Professor at Western Kentucky University. He received his second master’s degree in Computer Art from Syracuse University. He has focused on digital animation as a medium and subject, with a wide range of techniques and aesthetic approaches. He shows extended outer limits of his experimental and multi-disciplinary practice, installation, and time-based media, through simple expression of complex thought along with essential aesthetic and intellectual values.
"Our regular visitors will remember Joon Sung's winning entry mounted in the lobby during the Juried Show last fall," stated Museum administrator Paula Lisowsky. "These animated works are contemplative, evocative--different from any exhibit we've presented before."
"Gazes" will premiere at the opening reception on March 24 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will be featured through April 23. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, and 1:00 PM-4:00 PM on Sundays. More information is available by calling the Museum at (270) 522-9056 or by visiting the website at www.jmam.org.
