Minister Garry W. Thomas and Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated at the services. Burial followed in Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz.
Mr. Francis died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at 12:30 a.m., at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes.
Mr. Francis was born on June 30, 1935, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Clarence Averitt and Berta Thomas Francis.
Mr. Francis was an Attorney; Partner of Francis & Fentress Law Office in Cadiz, Paducah, and Henderson. He was the former County Attorney, serving from 1973-1981; was a U.S. Army veteran; member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121, 32nd degree Mason; Rizpah Shrine Temple, Trigg County Shriner’s Club, member of the Jesters with the Rizpah Temple; and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernadine Powell Francis; and a sister, Donna Francis Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Loralene Barber Francis of Cadiz; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Becky Francis of Cadiz, C.A. Francis, II, of Nashville, Tenn., and Wesley and Arlenn Francis of Laporte, Ind.; three brothers, Clarence L. Francis of Nashville, Tenn., Bill Francis of Cadiz, and Carl Ray Francis of Henderson; sister, Betty Francis Nicholson of Hermitage, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Austin Francis, Macie Francis, Megan “Tavi” Francis, Kelly Hendricks, and Michelle Wease; and six great-grandchildren.
Teresa Simpson, vocalist and pianist, provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Ed Caldwell, Ronnie Arant, Rodney Heaton, David Hite, Gene Powell, and Merrick Francis.
Honorary pallbearers were Stephen Dunn, Dennis Fentress, Dr. James Brazil, Dr. Eduardo Pavon, Dennis Thomas, and Rodney Olson.
