Funeral services for Elaine Whiting, 82, of Cadiz, were conducted on Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Clarendon Hills Cemetery Chapel in Darien, Ill. Toon Funeral Home in Downers Grove, Ill., was in charge of out of town arrangements and King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz was in charge of the local arrangements.

Dennis Johnson officiated at the services. Burial followed in Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, Ill.

Mrs. Whiting died on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 9:15 a.m., at her residence of natural causes.

Mrs. Whiting was born on September 3, 1923, in Chicago, Ill. She was the daughter of the late Joseph John and Alice Sala Jelinek.

Mrs. Whiting was a self-employed bookkeeper; co-founder of the Cadiz Chapter of Widowed Person Services; and a past member of the Newcomers Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Whiting in 1987; and a son, William R. Whiting, Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Christy Whiting of Cadiz; and two grandchildren, Lisa Houha and Gary Houha, both of Cadiz.
