Sandra Myers, Ladies Auxiliary President and Cadiz Rotary Secretary (among many other titles), was honored Monday evening at the 2005 Governor’s Awards for Outstanding Volunteer Service in Frankfort.

Nominated by Superintendent of Schools Tim McGinnis, with whom Myers worked closely last year in orchestrating a commemorative week in the schools around Veterans Day, Myers award is in the Impact Adult category, one of approximately 16 winners.

“All I can say is I am so humbled by everything, and that I did not earn this award by myself,” Myers said in an e-mail.

“Whatever has been accomplished has been the result of many partnerships working together to accomplish common goals.”

Noting the number of community service organizations in Cadiz — Genesis Express (which won a group Governor’s Award several years ago), Relay For Life, Helping Hands, Lions Club, etc. — Myers said, “the award really should go to the community.”

“The award is not a one-person award,” Myers said, “I am just the fortunate one to be the one to bring it back to Cadiz — it belongs to all the wonderfully dedicated and caring volunteers of this one-of-a-kind community.”
