Funeral services for Max Dowdy, 64, were conducted on Friday, April 28, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Imes-Miller Funeral Home in Murray.

Rev. Dennis Norvell officiated at the services. Burial followed in Murray Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dowdy died on Sunday, April 23, 2006, at 7:15 a.m., at his home.

Mr. Dowdy was born on February 2, 1942. He was the son of the late Issac Eugene and Elizabeth Walker Dowdy.

Mr. Dowdy was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church; former Calloway County Deputy Sheriff; Deputy Coroner; Chief of Rescue Squad; Commonwealth Det.; Mechanic at Hutson Ag.; worked at Tappen; and was a farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Dowdy of Murray; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Karen Dowdy of Bedford, Texas, Jeff and Debbie Dowdy of Murray, James and Maria Dowdy of Gieblest, Germany, and Greg and Becky Dowdy of Montoursville, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Ben Moore of Cadiz; and a brother-in-law, James Williams of Murray; and 10 grandchildren.
