Funeral services for Lois Lucille “China” Kirby Wharton, 76, of Cadiz, were conducted on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church in Cadiz.

Rev. Frank L. Larkins officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Rocky Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Wharton died on Sunday, May 14, 2006, at 5:40 p.m., at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

Mrs. Wharton was born on June 13, 1929, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late John Shalmon, Sr., and Lois Irvin Kirby.

Mrs. Wharton was a homemaker; and was a member of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church, Cadiz, where she was Secretary of the Sunday School, Secretary of BTU, Recording Secretary, and on the Culinary Committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Aaron Wharton.

Survivors include a son, William D. Wharton of Lexington; a daughter, Carolyn L. Wharton of Hopkinsville; and a sister, Lucy M. Ladd of Cadiz.

Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of all the arrangements.
