Father Paul McCarthy officiated at the services. Burial followed in St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery in Aurora.
Mrs. Kurtz died on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 5:30 p.m., at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Cadiz, following a long illness.
Mrs. Kurtz was born on November 27, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her parents were the late Don and Mabel Sernett Jackson.
Mrs. Kurtz was a homemaker; was a member of the St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Aurora; secretary of the Daughters of Isabelle; past President of the Newcomers Club; Bible Study Group Leader; Bridge Club member; square dancer; round dancer; Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader; and Seamstress.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Glenys McIntee.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Curtis E. Kurtz of Cadiz; three sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Kurtz of Hazleton, Pa., Patrick Kurtz of Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Kevin and Karla Kurtz of West Chester, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Robert Olsson of Hanover Park, Ill., and Karen and Don Collins of Batavia, Ill.; a sister, Jane Dallman of Hemet, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Rebecca Collins, soloist, provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Brenden Kurtz, Paul Olsson, Shawn Olsson, and Scott Collins.
Gift Bearers were Christi Barthelme, Stephanie Olsson, and Megan Kurtz.
King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz was in charge of all the arrangements.
