Cadiz city government sent out checks last week totaling nearly $27,000 after a ruling by Circuit Court Judge Bill Cunningham. The ruling came after an appeal on behalf of the city council after District Judge Jill Clark had ruled the city was required to pay back property taxes to anyone living in a disputed area of the city limits.

Property owners in the area can file additional claims with the district court seeking further damages to gain full restitution for all property taxes paid to the city. District court is limited to awarding only $1,500 per claim.
