Police received a call from Trigg County Hospital reporting the incident.
Cavanaugh told police he was on Martindale Street when a vehicle approached him and fired a weapon from the window. He told police he believed the vehicle to be a grey Dodge Dynasty with body damage. He said the alleged shooters were both white.
Cavanaugh was treated and released from the hospital.
There have been no arrests in the incident.
