County holds off on contribution

The April 18 Trigg County Fiscal Court’s last item on the agenda was the reading of a letter by Judge Executive Berlin Moore. The letter was from a veteran’s group in Marshal County explaining that due to lack of funds, their group was requesting $500 from the county to continue to transport veterans to and from a VA hospital in Marion, Illinois for medical treatments.

Asked about the legality of the request by Moore, County Attorney H.B. Quinn replied, “This has come up before. I don’t think we can do it. It is a worthwhile program, but since it is not open to all citizens, just a selected few, I think we are prohibited.”
