For seniors in Trigg County, the night had finally come for students to become graduates. On May 26, at the Trigg County High School Gymnasium, the school band struck up the traditional graduation anthem of “Pomp and Circumstance” as a processional for the ceremony. Men wore black caps and gowns, and women wore white.

The end of the regimented life of high school was a common theme among graduates. Valedictorian Samantha Jean Moore said in her address, “I’m nervous about what’s to come. It will be great to be on my own, but then… I’ll be on my own, with nobody to wash my clothes for me, or cook breakfast, or pay bills for me.”

Graduate Jeffery Adams said, “I’ve been here my whole life, and am going to miss chillin’ with my friends. I have a lot of memories of this place.”

A number of now-former students realized that with the end of the pre-planned life of high school, their future was in their hands.

Robert Papajeski, who also delivered the invocation, said that his initial goal was to become an agricultural science teacher, but his plans, rooted to his present activities, answered a higher calling. “I hope to attend a seminary school and become a pastor for a church. I’ve already done some preaching now.”

His fellow-member of the Class of 2006, Tommy Perry also had major plans-to marry his fiancée Amber Craig in October.
