The van was purchased through the terms of a state contract and was scheduled to be delivered by the second week of May.
The vehicle is to be used to transport of prisoners to and from Christian County, especially for court appearances.
The Trigg County Jail ceased operations on April 1 after a vote in early March by the magistrates. Moore explained the reason for accepting the state contract, rather than soliciting bids for the van was due to “time constraints.”
Denied the opportunity to provide a counter-offer to provide the van was Wildcat Chevrolet General Manager Mike Oliver. Oliver said that his business could provide a van in a “comparable time frame,” at the time of the purchase.
Moore was unsure precisely when the van would be delivered to the Jailer. He said this week that “We could be getting it any time. Right now, we don’t have an exact delivery date. Glenn (Cunningham) may know more.”
