Funeral services for William “Bill” Patterson, 85, of Cadiz, were conducted on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at 12 p.m., at King’s Funeral Home.

Rev. Paul Cannon officiated at the services. Burial followed in Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, with military rites.

Mr. Patterson died on Monday, June 5, 2006, at 9:30 a.m., at his residence of natural causes.

Mr. Patterson was born on February 19, 1921, in Waynesburg, Pa. He was the son of the late Harvey and Margaret Swaniger Patterson.

Mr. Patterson was a construction superintendent for FMC in Fairmont, W.V.; was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in WWII, Europe and Africa; and attended the Canton Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Billie Jean Patterson; two brothers, James H. Patterson and Donald “Jack” Patterson; and three sisters, Ruth Mattison, Pauline Rhodes, and Iris Jean Roe.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Cora Louise Thomas Patterson of Cadiz; three sons and daughters-in-law, William E. “Bill” II and Joanna Patterson of Mt. Morris, Pa., Thomas “Tom” and Renee Patterson of Princeton, and Gregory and Karen Patterson of Virginia; five daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Dennis Krupa of Levittown, Pa., Barbara and Robert Weaver of Canton, Ohio, Charlotte and Gregory McClellan of Claysville, Pa., Theresa Rogers of Adairsville, Ga., and Penny and Gary Duncan of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother, Harvey E. Patterson, Jr., of Pensacola, Fla.; step brother, Delmont Rush of Pa.; five sisters, Hazel Miller of Millsboro, Pa., Donna Blaker of Washington, Pa., Helen Stickovich of Cleveland, Ohio, Dayle Forshey of Waynesville, Mo., and Carol Gump of Waynesburg, Pa.; 17 grandchildren, Cherie Teneglia, Debra Yeager, Brenda Fitzgerald, Lisa McClellan, James McClellan, Jason Rogers, Jebediah Rogers, Jesse Rogers, Jennifer Rogers, Melissa Patterson, William E. Patterson, III, Lucas Hale, Andrea Duncan, Bryan Duncan, Shane William Patterson, Sloan Taylor Patterson, Shaye Thomas Elizabeth Patterson; and nine great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Shane Patterson, Lucas Hale, Jason Rogers, Jebediah Rogers, Jesse Rogers, and Daniel Hale.

Honorary pallbearers were Henry Robert Higgins, Coy Matheny, Larry Scott, Bob Weaver, Thomas “Tommy” Rae, Smith T. Freeman, William E. Patterson, III, James McClellan, and Bryan Duncan.

Clarissa King, pianist, provided the music.
