Funeral services for William Thomas “Boss Hog” Carter, 63, of Herndon, were conducted on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Gamble Funeral Home.

Rev. Eddie Brown, Jr., officiated at the services. Burial followed in Double Barn Cemetery in Herndon.

Mr. Carter died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at 5:10 a.m., at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

Mr. Carter was born on December 3, 1942, in Christian County. He was the son of the late Martin and Mary Frances Pace Carter.

Mr. Carter was a carpenter; a farmer; member of Zion Hope Baptist Church in Herndon, where he served as Deacon for 35 years; and was a Caretaker of Double Barn Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Tola Moss Carter of Herndon; a son, David W. Carter of Cadiz; three step-sons, Maxie Stamps and Melvin Stamps, both of Hopkinsville, and Johnny Stamps of Louisville; a brother, James Howard Carter of Waynesville, Mo.; a sister, Frances Saunders of Roanoak, Va.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.
