Bro. Joey Adair and Rev. Seth Waggoner officiated at the services. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville.
Bro. Allen died on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at 2 p.m., at his home.
Bro. Allen was born on December 29, 1919, in Christian County. He was the son of the late Lee W. and Ruth King Allen.
Bro. Allen was a retired Baptist Minister of 55 years, ministering at the Golden Pond Baptist Church in Trigg County, and Northside Baptist Church and Spring Creek Baptist Church, both in Calloway County. In addition to ministering, Bro. Allen was a school teacher, teaching most of his 20 years in the South Marshall School System; but he also taught briefly in the Trigg County School System. Bro. Allen received his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Education at Murray State University. He also received a degree in Divinity with the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill.; and he was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church in Murray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Holmes Young; two brothers, George E. Allen, and John Prentice Allen; and a daughter-in-law, Jan Allen.
Survivors include his wife of 64-1/2 years, Estelle Pace Allen of Murray; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Jane and Richard Jackson of Normal, Ill.; a son, Dr. Randy Allen of Cadiz; a brother, Frank Lee Allen of Hopkinsville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
