Visitation will be at Goodwin’s Funeral Home until noon, then from noon until the funeral hour at the church. Burial will follow in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
Mrs. Rudd died on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Norton Hospital Hospice Unit.
Mrs. Rudd was class Valedictorian and graduate of Symsonia High School; she earned her Bachelor and Masters degrees from Murray State University. Her teaching career began at Pryor’s School, a two-room school in Graves County; she worked as Home Economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for seven years, teaching steam canning and food preservation to assist in the recovery from the Depression; she retired from the Trigg County Schools after thirty-one years in administrative positions as Supervisor of Instruction followed by Director of Personnel; she worked in the Cadiz Cleaners, owned and operated by her husband, for twenty-four years; she was a lifetime member of the National Education Association; a fifty-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for Key Women Educators; was a Kentucky Colonel; she was the first member of the American Quilter’s Society; was an avid supporter of and volunteer at the Museum of the American Quilter’s Society, where her work is part of their permanent collection; and she was a member of the Cadiz Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rudd was preceded in death by her parents, Tenon M. and Curnellia N. McNutt; her husband of 49 years, Rudy Rudd; and a brother, Rollie McNutt.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rudee Ann Rudd and Juan Jose Rodriguez S., of Lanesville, Ind.; and a sister, Elnora M. Holland of Mayfield.
