Emergency Medical Director Randy Wade said the boat was a “wonderful surprise” and that it was already proving to be quite useful. He said a man had a four-wheeler accident at Turkey Creek on July 17 and that they were able to get to him faster and easier with the boat.
With the new addition, the rescue squad now has four boats. Wade said they are very important because the squad often has to conduct searches over thousands of acres on Lake Barkley.
The fishing boat had previously belonged to Ed Jungbert, Jr., who died on May 31. His wife, Kay, said he lived in Trigg County for more than 35 years and that he loved the area very much. Since donating the boat would help people in the area, she said it was a great way to honor him and that he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
