Funeral services for Willard W. Lester, 88, of Cadiz, will be conducted on Thursday, August 10, 2006, at 3 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the services and Jim Wallace will give a Eulogy.

Mr. Lester died on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at 11:45 a.m., at Murray-Calloway County Hospital of natural causes.

Mr. Lester was born on July 18, 1918, in Lyon County. He was the son of the late John “Jack” Felix and Lillie Garrett Lester.

Mr. Lester was a retired Gulf Oil Distributor; a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II; was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church; was the oldest member and past commander of American Legion Post No. 74; member of Masonic Lodge #121; and a founder and director of Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Cotton” Lester in March 2005; and a brother, James E. Lester.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Jim Wallace of Cadiz, and Mimi and Steve Wenger of Columbia, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Lt. Col. Ginger Wallace of San Antonia, Texas, James Wallace II of Louisville; Ryan Wallace of Birmingham, Ala., Drew Parker and Hunter Wenger, both of Columbia, Mo.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lt. Col. Ginger Wallace, James Wallace II, Ryan Wallace, Hunter Wenger, Drew Parker, and Steve Wenger.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hollis Carr, Tom Sumner, and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class: Bill Lisch, David, Shore, Seldon Thomas, W.J. Hopson, Manuel Brown, Chappel Allen, J.D. Howell, Brent Thompson, Claude Harrison, R.A. Hall, Kelsie Calhoun, Jesse Thomas, Richard Miller, Glynn Whobrey, James, Mathis, Alton Stallons, and Tommy Dunn.
