The Trigg County Tourism Commission met for their bimonthly meeting on Thursday and discussed the possibility of allowing Tom Holder of ESPN to host fishing tournaments in the county next year.

If commission director Charles Simpson signs the contracts, the tournaments would take place on March 25 and June 10, 2007. Simpson said he didn’t know much about the tournaments yet, but that he still had time to review them before signing any contracts. Commission member John Rittenhouse, who was not present at the meeting, has already agreed to furnish Holder with rooms at Lake Barkley State Resort Park if the tournaments are held in Trigg County. Rittenhouse is Lake Barkley’s property manager.

The commission’s Web site, gocadiz.com, was discussed at the meeting as well. Commission member Mallory Lawrence said the site was up and running and that one of the only problems is that she wants better maps featured on the site. The old version had maps that were easier to use, she said.
