Trigg Volleyball goes Apollo

Wildcat volleyball came back from the Apollo Summer Slamdown in Owensboro after finishing second in pool play with a 1-4 record in the 24-team field.

Trigg lost in first round action to eventual champion Owensboro Catholic 25-19, 25-11 with three kills and a block from senior Stacy Schoneman and six assists from sophomore Casey Banister. Freshman Keisha Stewart tallied two blocks, a kill and an ace, while Molly Thompson added a kill and a block. Morgan Parker chipped in a block and Kalesha Williams had a kill of her own.

The Wildcats picked up a win in match two over Harrison County 25-20, 16-25, 25-24. Williams had four kills along with two blocks, while Thompson added three kills, two aces and a block. Banister added 10 assists and an ace. Schoneman had three aces and a kill. Stewart added two kills and three aces, while Cally Felton had two aces and Mariah Calhoun had one ace.

Trigg came up 0-3 during the Saturday portion of the tournament with losses to Green Co. (25-13, 25-12), Marshall Co. (25-18, 25-7) and Lone Oak (25-16, 25-11).
