Graveside services for Robert Whitson “Whit” Hite, 83, of Cadiz, were conducted on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Robertson-Hite Cemetery in Cadiz.

Rev. John Ahart officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Cemetery.

Mr. Hite died on Sunday, August 27, 2006, at 5:14 a.m., at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Ky., of natural causes.

Mr. Hite was born on November 8, 1922, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Henry Laster and Katie Mitchell Hite.

Mr. Hite was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict; was a lifelong farmer in the Montgomery Community; and was a member of the Gracey West Union Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher and Deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deane Cunningham Hite in 2001; a brother, Clyde Hite; two sisters, Juanita Hite and Katherine Hite Leneave.

Survivors include a son, Danny Reed Hite of Trigg County; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Russell Harris of Frankfort; granddaughter, Jessica and Greg Hosfield of Lexington.

Serving as pallbearers were Mike Hite, Mitch Hite, Terry Hite, Paul Ebling, David Hargrove, and Bob Lester.
