“We’re working out the blueprints with Subway now. We have a bigger and better restaurant, and are working to get their approval on a floor plan. Once that is done, we would need no more than a month to open,” said Mastey.
An early morning fire destroyed the restaurant on March 29 of this year. The State Fire Marshall’s report said that the cause of the fire was “undetermined,” though possibly caused by faulty wiring.
The fire also destroyed overhead telephone lines that serviced the western portion of Trigg County, including Canton. The current subway building has the replaced lines resting on the northern roof of the building.
Sim Davenport of BellSouth said that the overhead lines are scheduled for relocation to prevent another interruption of service at that site. “The lines will be moved before the end of the year. I am almost certain they will go underground and we will upgrade our capability. This adds safety and better service, so it is a good deal for our subscribers.”
