A small but enthusiastic crowd admires the Japanese paper art at the opening of the new Janice Mason Art Museum exhibit.
The museum’s administrator, Paula Lisowsky, said she thought the turnout was a little lower than last month’s exhibit because they didn’t send out postcards to promote the opening. This was because there would be no artists attending the opening since the exhibit is a private collection. The collection of figures, postcards, drawings and much more is owned by Claude Holeman, who is the curator for the Dawson Springs Museum and Arts Center. Holeman worked in Japan for 36 years as a civilian employee for the United States Air Force. While there he collected everything from paper art to kimonos.
